What Is a Dedicated IP?

A dedicated IP is an IP address assigned to your server with a 25565 port. You can assign a dedicated IP address to only one server.

A dedicated IP is not a custom IP such as play.mc.com. It merely allows you to set one of these up.

The 25565 port is Minecraft’s default port. It allows you to connect to the server without any extra numbers.

For example, if your IP is 192.168.0.1 and the port is 25572, the only way to connect to this server is by entering the following:

If your server's port is 25565, you don't need any more numbers, you can just connect:

You can do the same thing with a domain/URL using Namecheap, Godaddy or Google Domains.

❓ What Is the Purpose of a Dedicated IP ❓

A dedicated IP allows you to have a shorter and easier address to connect to.

Having a dedicated IP is also ideal for setting up a domain or subdomain like mysite.com. You can just point a domain to your server without needing to do anything fancy.

⚠ Dedicated IPs Are NOT Domains! ⚠

If you purchase a dedicated IP addon, please be aware that you are purchasing the default port (25565) for the IP address assigned to your server.

To set a domain address for your server (like mysite.com), you must already own a domain or purchase one. Once you have a domain, you must point your desired connection address to your Minecraft server IP using an A-Record.

If you do not own a domain, we also offer you the option to assign a subdomain using one of our domains free of charge. You can open a support ticket about this and we will take care of it as soon as possible.

If you have any issues or questions regarding the dedicated IP please contact us on live chat or via the ticket system.
