How to Set Up and Use Cardboard Mod (Plugins & Mods on Fabric)

This guide will help you understand what Cardboard is and how to set it up on your Fabric server.

Please note that this mod is not working with Forge servers, just with Fabric ones.

❓ What Is Cardboard ❓

Cardboard is a Fabric mod that will let you run also Bukkit/ Spigot plugins on your Fabric modded server. After setting up this mod, you will have a Fabric server that can run both mods and plugins at the same time.

Also, please note that Cardboard is working just for the 1.16.4 and 1.16.5 versions of Fabric!

NOTE: Cardboard is still under development and there may be a compatibility issue between the mods and plugins you add.

You can find more details about Cardboard on the official page here.

🔌 How to Install Cardboard 🔌

To set up Cardboard in your Fabric server you will have to do the following steps:

Download the latest version of Cardboard from here.

Use FileZilla to upload the mod to your server mods folder.

Here is our guide for using FileZilla if needed!

Restart your server!

After restarting your server you will notice that a folder called plugins was generated in your root directory of the server.

🔎 How to Add Plugins 🔎

To add plugins to your server you need to upload the plugins to the 'plugins' folder of the server using FileZilla, then restart the server as you would normally do for a plugins server.

Here is our guide for installing plugins into your server.

NOTE: You can use the /plugins to see the active plugins of the server.

🔩 Client-Side Set Up 🔩

If you want to join a Fabric modded server that is running Cardboard you will just have to install Fabric and the mods that your server is running in your machine.

So there is no extra client-side setup, all you need to do is set up Fabric in your machine as you would do for connecting to a normal Fabric server.

Here you can download Fabric.
